To all Alberta Highland Dancers & their Families:
We hope that you are doing well and staying safe during this unprecedented time. We know that many of our Associations have been dealing with fallout from event cancellations, economic uncertainty and health concerns. As an Executive, we have been discussing these concerns and have passed a motion to suspend the AHDA’s collection of fundraising fees and membership levies for the upcoming membership year, 2020/2021. These fees will be reinstated effective September 1st, 2021. We will continue to collect the $1 levy on entry fees for competition entries.
In previous years the AHDA has collected $15 per member as the fundraising levy and $10 per family for the membership levy. To reiterate, we will not be collecting those two levies for this coming dance season. Our goal with this one-time exception is to help our dance families have access to membership in their local Associations at a reduced price this coming year. We know that many dance families will be facing great challenges and anything we can do to lower costs in this time of uncertainty will be a benefit to our whole dancing community.
We are looking forward to 2021 Provincials in Edmonton for the championship & competition. More information will be shared as we get closer to that date.
Please let us know if you have questions about the levy suspension for 2020/2021 or if there is any way that the AHDA can be of assistance to you during this time. Thanks for your continued support of highland dance in Alberta.
The AHDA Executive
